Cinco de Mayo!
Thursday, May 5, 2011
I might not normally write anything about Cinco de Mayo except for the fact that Kasey shared with us that he learned in his Spanish class that Cinco de Mayo originated from Peubla Mexico. This is particularly interesting to us since that's Brady's Mission! So in honor of that - Happy Cinco de Mayo! I wonder if the people of Puebla are celebrating today and what Elder Lester is doing...
Here's some interesting history: Cinco de Mayo is a regional holiday in Mexico, primarily celebrated in the state of Puebla, with some limited recognition in other parts of Mexico. The holiday commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of Mexican General Ignacio Zaragoza SeguĂn.
