Happy 12th Birthday Kolby!

You are so excited to be 12. You are going to get the Priesthood and pass the Sacrament. You are really enjoying junior high and I can see the changes in you as you are growing older. There are still moments when I get to experience that sweet affectionate boy and then other moments where you probably feel you are a bigger boy now so you hold back a bit.  I hope to hang on to your pure childlike nature for as long as possible.

You are an amazing boy full of happiness and great talents. You have always been a happy boy and a joy in my life. You have a great talent for music and sports. You love basketball and your dream is to play in the NBA. You also have a natural talent for baseball as we witnessed this past spring when you pitched your team to a championship! You have a beautiful singing voice and you have been singing since you were a little guy sitting in the grocery cart singing all through whatever store we would be in. I get to hear that great voice when you are just singing on your own while you are playing the Wii and you are in your own little world thinking no one is listening. You also love to sing in the car, and sing for Family Home Evening. You have a natural talent for the piano. You can just play the melody of any song you just heard. That's a gift! You are a great trumpet player, but you are trying to get out of playing the trumpet...but you did say that for your birthday all you wanted was a bunny that your scout leader was sellling, and you promised you would stay in band if you could just have the bunny!  So for your birthday, and for the family, you got a bunny!

Kolby was also happy to receive his first iPod and a gift certificate for a suit so he can look so handsome passing the Sacrament in Church on Sundays.

Our tradition is that the kids get to pick what they want for dinner - either a favorite homemade meal from Mom or going out to their favorite restaurant. Today's Birthday dinner was different because President and Sister Ferrell wanted to take Kolby and the family to dinner for his birthday. Their favorite place to go is Gecko Grill, so they took our family for dinner. They also brought a little cake and we all sang Happy Birthday. I am grateful for their love for our family. It feels like we have a family to celebrate with. Grandma also came over to give Kolby and Braxley their birthday give - $25.00. They are always excited about that.
