History was made

Last night history was made in the United States of America. The first African-American man was elected to the highest office as the President. Senator Barak Obama from Illinois received a 53% popular vote and 349 electoral votes, surpassing the 270 votes needed, and was declared the 44th President of the United States. Here's the results map. His very moving speech can be read here. His campaign was run brilliantly. The loss of the presidency for Senator John McCain is a sad one. Here is his speech. He could have rested and enjoyed the rest of his good life. He has given so much to this country. But he wanted to give more. And with the popular vote, America gave him 46%. That's still a lot of people who wanted McCain. Maybe President Obama will appoint John McCain as the Secretary of Defense. Who knows...

Our family sat around the television as history was made last night. Kolby wrote about the results for extra credit and Brady compared his predictions to the results as part of his history class. We will now watch and see what the future holds for us and this new President of ours.
