The 2008 Beijing Olympics began on 08.08.08 and ended yesterday 08.24.08. It's kind of sad that they are over because as a family we have really enjoyed watching the Olympics for the past two weeks. We record the games and then we're able to skip through all the commericals. It's still a lot of TV but it's been so fun and inspiring. The Symbols of the Olympic games from the rings signifying the union between men, and the Theme of "One World One Dream" express the common wishes of people all over the world, inspired by the Olympic ideals, to strive for a bright future of Mankind. The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games emblem "Chinese Seal, Dancing Beijing" is filled with Beijink's hospitality and hopes, and carries the city's commitment to the world. It's was truly a two weeks that will never be forgotten with those symbols and themes running throughout the games. The Olympians were amazing from Michael Phelps winning 8 gold medals, and watching him and the relay team win gold even by a fingers touch. The Lester's could be found standing and cheering so loud that we were afraid our neighbors would wonder what happened. The gymnastics was awe inspiring. They had great strength and sportmanship, even in the suspicion of the Chinese girls being underage. Track and Field and Diving was also fun to watch. All of it was so entertaining from the Opening to the Closing Ceremonies. I loved everything the Chinese people did and was grateful to have learned a bit about their culture and their very disciplined people. It's a country that I would like to visit someday. Thank you Olympians for all you have given for your sport and country, and the emotions we felt along the way with you.
