Braxley's 8th Birthday
Saturday, August 16, 2008
I was able to tell Braxley the story of how I was able to show Gordon B. Hinckley that statue for his approval to be put in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. We continued walking all around Temple Square and took so many pictures. He also recogized the statue of John the Baptist giving Joseph and Oliver Cowdery the Aaronic Priesthood. Braxley said that he was able to be baptized because of this event.
One thing Braxley loves is getting his picture taken. We also drove to Brigham Young's gravesite. It was such a fun time. We decided that we would all go to Temple Square on Kolby's birthday so we will be able to spend more time and go inside the Visitor Center's, the Church History Museum and the Lion House.
When we got home Braxley opened his birthday presents. He got new scriptures and a scripture case. They are both green because it's his favorite color.
He also got his cub scout uniform.
He also got a $20 Target gift card, some Pokemon cards (he's loving Pokemon cards right now) and some candy. Kasey gave him $10.00 and Kolby gave him some Pokemon cards. Braxley wanted to go to Target right away and spend his $30, so off we went. We bought some "Narnia" and Power Ranger toys.
For dinner we had plans to go to our friends Ernest and Marilyn Farr. We met Ernest and Marilyn when we lived here nearly 17 years ago. We have always tried to keep in touch and actually haven't seen each other for 10 years. In June, Marilyn was thinking of us and looked us up in the phone book and called us. She said, "is it really you?" Funny that two months later we moved to Utah. It was great visiting and they made it a fun birthday for Braxley with all the bbq fixings, balloons, cake and ice cream.
